Just how powerful is the Israel lobby with Congress, the White House and other representatives of the United States government? Is it really "all about the Benjamins" as Rep. Ilan Omar tweeted, or is there more to the story?
There's a moment near the end of the 4-hour series—the documentary was never aired because it was censored by its own network under intense pressure from the U.S. government and pro-Israel lobbyists—that shows Eric Gallagher, a senior manager at The Israel Project which is a key Israel advocacy organization in Washington. Gallagher admits that AIPAC, the dominant pro-Israel lobbying outfit, faces an existential crisis.
It's a telling admission in a documentary that is replete with admissions.
The film's undercover reporter, "Tony"—a convincing young British Jewish man—is embedded within the American Zionist establishment, where he filmed undercover for months to reveal pro-Israel lobbyists and Israeli government affiliates talking tactics, spewing racism against Muslims and Palestinians, spying on pro-Palestinian groups, and disrupting BDS activities.
A post-film discussion will be lead by historian Eric Gordon.
